Goddess Oil Information (Essential Oils)
Essential Oils are some of the most potent on the market. These statements are not to be taken as medical advice. We, here at Cerynda's Enchantments, respect and encourage the need for medical advice in any circumstance where it is needed. Please seek help if you are experiencing depression, mood swings, focus issues, suicidal thoughts, or any stress related thoughts/feelings especially if you find you are struggling to cope with situations. If you have any health concerns or medications please ask your doctor before using any sort of aromatherapy.
Learn about essential oils!
Essential oils are used in aromatherapy. They are made from the natural plant material and the plant's scent is captured through either steam or cold pressing to extract the oils to make an essential oil.
Essential Oils are NEVER meant for internal use. Some sites may tell you it is ok, with extreme risk, but in my opinion I would never tell someone this was a use for essential oils. Keep out of eyes, nose, and ears. Topical applications vary in strength determined by the reason for the application. Here are some guidelines to pay close attention to:
For children 2-12 years use no more than a 1% dilution. 5-6 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil.
For teens and adults with no health condition, pregnant, or nursing use a 1% dilution for facial care and up to a 2% dilution for all over body care. 1% dilution is 5-6 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil. A 2% dilution is 10-12 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil.
For acute topical applications like bruises, headache, bug bite, stings, burns, etc you can use a 3-5% dilution ratio. 15-30 drops per 1 oz of carrier oils. Dilutions such as these are for short term topical use ONLY!
Those who are pregnant or nursing there are SOME essential oils that may be safe, however I air on the side of caution and suggest that anyone pregnant or nursing not use essential oils.
SAFETY TIPS!
*** ALWAYS use the patch test method and discontinue use if irritation of the skin occurs.
***Keep away from children and pets.
***Always store in a cool, dry spot with little to no light
***Keep out of HOT areas (don't leave a bottle in a hot car)
***Always keep the lid on tightly when not in use
***DILUTE before using when skin contact may occur!
Diffuser guidelines- Also called the 'steam method' this is also one of the safest ways to use essential oils, and no extra work/ingredients is involved. You can add 3-10 drops in a diffuser. Normally 6 drops is ideal but depending on your preference 3-10 is a good guideline to adhere to. You can also mix essential oils. For example, If you enjoy Orange and Peppermint together you can add 3-5 drops of each scent or adjust it to your own liking! Take into consideration children and pets in the room with you and adjust accordingly.
Use in Bath/Shower-The best way to use an essential oil in the shower is by adding a few drops to the shower wall and inhale deeply while you shower. For use in a bath dilute in a carrier oil first and then add to your bath water. Because of the contact to skin in a bath only certain essential oils should be used in the bath water.
Dry evaporation-You can add a few drops to a cotton ball or some other sort of fabric and inhale-without getting the oil on your skin. You can also open the bottle and inhale from the bottle a few times a day.
